Coremetrics Optimizes Digital Marketing

Coremetrics is releasing Spring 2008, a technology suite designed to allow online businesses to optimize their digital marketing initiatives.

Announced May 5, the solution includes the Coremetrics Explore data analysis tool and Enterprise Dashboard user interface and KPI (key performance indicator) tracker, as well as enhancements to the existing Intelligent Offer, Search and Connect tools.

“Coremetrics Explore offers ad-hoc, customizable, aggregated multi-site reporting with a flexible modular user interface,” said Brian Tomz, senior director of product strategy for Coremetrics.

Tomz said Explore allows users to design their own interfaces and run their own individualized reports.

“You can get the type of information on clients the way you want it, when you want it,” he said. “Attribute analytics allows granular data collection. Clients are moving to a faceted-search capability; how does a customer search for a product—by manufacturer, by color? It gives you a better chance at providing the proper search menu and ordering capability to maximize sales.” (more…)

HOUSTON -(Dow Jones)- Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) posted a 17% rise in first- quarter net income, driven by surging crude oil prices.

But the U.S. oil giant also reported a sharp decline in production and week refining profits.

Exxon Mobil’s results worsen Wall Street expectations. Its shares closed Thursday down 3.6% to $89.70 and in recent late trading are at $89.80. This movement came on a day when petroleum equities traded lower due mainly to a sharp drop of oil prices that traded under $111.

The world’s largest company on a market capitalization basis reported net income of $10.89 billion, or $2.03 a share, up from $9.28 billion, or $1.62 a share, a year earlier. The latest results mark the best first quarter ever for the energy giant. However, the mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters was for earnings of $2.14 a share.

Revenue climbed to $116.85 billion from $87.22 billion. (more…)

Merchant Services Are an E-Biz Investment

For as long as there have been entrepreneurs there has been someone lurking in the background murmuring: “To make money you have to spend money.”A better way to turn that phrase so it truly gets its meaning across is: “To make money you have to invest money back into your business.” Because that is what wise merchant spending is doing when they spend on their business – a short-term cash outflow for long-term profitability.

If you’re a traditional retailer you can find a store in the run-down part of town with a leaky roof at a great price. But you probably won’t get a lot of business because people aren’t in the area very often and those who do come in won’t enjoy the experience. That’s why you’d spend a little more for rent to be in a great location with lots of consumer traffic and a store people feel comfortable in. (more…)

Storytelling: A Powerful Marketing Strategy for Your Online Business

Before the advent of pencil and paper and writing, ancient peoples depended solely upon storytelling to pass along the history of their families and tribes from one generation to the next. Of course, it was an imperfect method, as we humans tend to skew a story from our own perspective and add details and nuances that weren’t present in the original story. However imperfect or exaggerated or simply untrue the stories might be, we all live in countries where stories shape our history. Here in the U.S., we were all regaled as children with stories of Paul Revere’s ride through Boston alerting the residents of the coming of the British, or if you were a Texas kid, of the defeat of Santa Ana in San Jacinto after the tragic loss of life to the Mexican army at the Alamo.

I’ve always reveled in stories. One of my favorite pastimes as a child was to hang out with my mom and aunts for the “adult conversations” that weren’t really suitable for children’s ears. However, I refused to leave no matter how strongly I was encouraged to go and play outside. I just wanted to hear the stories of the “good ole” days” (i.e. back in the olden days, as I gleefully referred to those times) when they were growing up or when things were different. Hearing stories about them in different contexts than how I knew them shaped both my personal history and my family history and connected me to them in ways that I still value to this day. Of course, I l also overheard much family gossip, but that, then is another story. (more…)

Building Your Contact List: The Necessary Tools

Without a list the long-term success of your business will look grim. This we know because you have probably heard many times that your money is in your list, and this has also shown completely true for me.However, it is not enough to just know what you need to do. To accomplish anything it requires more than that, and this is no different. First you need to know the basic tasks you will need to complete. Secondly you need necessary tools to get the job done right. If you are trying to get somewhere fast would you ride a bike instead of taking a plane? Definitely not! We need tools that will be both effective and reliable. For this reasons I have researched for the most reliable yet affordable tools to use in your journey of building your list.

First let’s talk about hosting. There are almost endless choices for hosting. I have narrowed the list down to the ones highest recommend by both Internet marketers and network marketers. The more robust and effective choices are:

1) Kiosk 2) Host4Profit

These two are the most recommended for Internet network marketers and trusted by the most successful of us in the industry. With either of these you have all the features needed to create any website you desire. There are other web hosts out there who will freely cancel your account and all of your data at the event of a spam complaint or other issue, so be aware of this and if you can stick with a host you can trust. To Niche or Not to Niche

Are you like many enterpreneurs who are afraid to choose a niche for your offerings? I know there can be the fear that you’re limiting your business if you narrow your niche down too much, but that simply isn’t true. Believe me, it’s so much easier and profitable to market to a smaller portion of the market (just think how many people there are in the world!) than to try to be all things to all people. And you’ll be amazed to find out that you actually open yourself up to possibilities that would not have come up had your focus been all over the map.Next let me say that lots of (particularly new) businessowners struggle with this issue. All you want to do is give your gifts to the world, and making decisions that make you feel as though you are saying “no” to a segment of the population may not feel right to you. But by choosing to focus only on a certain group of people who have a common struggle, you are ensuring that your work actually gets out there, and you will be astounded at what comes your way. The buzz these days is all about how to make money online. Once we hear that someone else is making money online, immediately we want to know how we can get in on the action. The first question most people ask is how can I earn money online? There are a few ways, some easier than others depending on your skill set, but please know, they require work and effort.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing, simply put, is promoting other people’s products and taking a commission or part of the sale. For example, if you recommend a book to a friend that costs $20 and they purchase it, you’ll receive part of that $20.

Affiliate marketing works best when you have a website focusing on a specific niche. More often than not, people start websites based on a need for information, for a passion, or a combination of both. (more…)

Does social networking and social media marketing strategies actually work to improve your search engine optimization rankings? These sites go by many name s and all provide a different function but all operate the same internally. So why are so many peole flocking to these websites?Social media websites and networking web sites offer the website owner a straightforward approach to bond with another community of people who have related points of views or interests like you. Some social networking websites group people with common interests, but some websites are “traditional networking sites” and allow you to search for friends based on your interests. So now how do these websites really operate. In websites like MySpace users share music which was what helped rocket MYspace into the well renown place it is today and in Facebook, users create their personal information that they want shared and use pictures, software programs and audio, videos to display or depict their business environment. In websites like Fastpitch, Joe Popular and Adlandpro the users create product and sale pitches and work with each other. Promotiing your website using these new tools is termed social media marketing. (more…)
